THIS LOT CONSISTS OF TWO BOOKS WRITTEN AND PHOTOGRAPHICALLY ILLUSTRATED BY WRIGHT MORRIS: The Home Place, (1948) and Love Affair - A Venetian Journal, (1972) [shown].
The Home Place. Wright Morris. Charles Scribner's Sons, New York and London, 1948. First edition. Octavo. Silver-stamped cloth. 178 pp. Wright Morris' second photo-novel, published two years after The Inhabitants. His text and eighty-nine full-page halftone photographs taken in rural Nebraska complement and complete each other. People are deliberately left out of the great majority of his photographs, but their inferred presence is strongly felt in the objects and structures pictured. A very good copy with slight cover soiling. In clear glassine.
Love Affair - A Venetian Journal. Wright Morris. Harper & Row, New York, Evanston, San Francisco, and London, 1972. First edition. Small quarto. Cloth in photo-illustrated dustjacket. After decades of photographing in black-and-white, Morris published this novel-travelogue with luscious color photographs of picturesque scenes of the Old World sinking city. A fine copy; dustjacket has one small nick and slight soiling at top edge of front panel and a very small edge-tear at top edge of back panel. Previous owner's inscription on half-title page.
