Paul Citroen. Retrospektive Fotografie. Edition Marzona, Bielefeld/Dusseldorf, 1978. First edition. Quarto. Stiff card wrappers with black paper dustjacket with mounted photograph; original clear plastic glassine. 20 pp. + 78 full-page halftone plates.
Paul Citroen, a photographer and montagist, was born in Berlin and studied at the Bauhaus before moving to Holland. The Bauhaus aesthetic is apparent in both his photographic portraits and in his proclivity for odd visual moments and unusual angles. All of the photographs in this monograph except the final one were taken between 1925 and 1935.
A fine copy; the plastic glassine is a bit short, as issued.
