Vilem Reichmann. Cykly. Text by Vaclav Zykmund. Statni nakladatelstvi krasne literatury (SNKLU), Praha, 1961. First edition. Square duodecimo. Photo-illustrated wrappers. 23 pp. + 64 gravure photographs.
A book from the distinctive series of small Czech monographs on photographers published by SNKLU; the format was later continued by the publisher Odeon. Reichmann began photographing in 1930, and was one of the premiere Czech surrealist photographers. Despite the fact that he had over thirty solo exhibitions and contributed to at least eighty other shows, his work is just beginning to be properly recognized in the West. This book presents a selection of his best lyrical surreal images, printed in gravure. Many have an affinity with the work of Manuel Alvarez Bravo.
A near fine copy, save for a few soft creases in the back wrapper and a bit of rubbing at the top and bottom of the spine. In clear book glassine.
