One of the few Ruscha photo projects that takes humans as its subject. "Ruscha refers to Business Cards and Crackers (and Miracle follows suit) as the results of theatrical antics," writes Sylvia Wolf in Ed Ruscha and Photography. "'In each case,' he remarks, 'there's some harebrained story I'm acting out.'" In Crackers as in the film Premium (1971), the man is played by artist Larry Bell, and the woman by Leon Bing, the bellhop by Rudy Gernreich, and the chauffeur by comedian Tommy Smothers.
