THIS LOT CONSISTS OF FOUR CZECH PHOTOGRAPHY BOOKS: Anglie Slovem I Obrazem(1948) with photographs by photojournalist Jindrich Marco (shown); Moscow (1963) by Jan Lukas; Krkonose(1961) by Zdenko Feyfar; and Orbis Pictus aneb Svet v Objectivu (1964) by Josef Brukner and Jaroslav Mrnka.

Anglie Slovem i Obraszem. Text by Hugh A. Andrews. Photographs by Kindrich Marco. Ant. Dedourek v Trebechovicich, Praze, 1948. First edition. Quarto. Cloth-backed boards in photo-illustrated dustjacket and publisher's board slipcase. 64 pp. text + 271 gravure photographs, reproduced one or two to a page, showing England and the English through the eyes of the Czech photojournalist. A fine copy; slipcase with a little edge rubbing.

Moscow. Jan Lukas with Alexander Werth. Spring Books, London, 1963. First edition. Large quarto. Gilt-lettered cloth. Introduction + 2 color plates + 157 gravures plates of life in Moscow, including images of street scenes and architecture, visitors to museums, the Kremlin, the Bolshoi, chessplayers in Gorki Park, window displays, etc. A fine copy with lightly faded spine; some trimmed panels and flaps from the dustjacket laid in.

Krkonose. Zdenko Feyfar. Text by Jarmila Glazarova, Jan Weiss a Miroslav Stepan. Orbis, Prhah, 1961. First edition. Squarish octavo. Embossed cloth. Text in Czech + 156 gravure images of the mountainous region of Czechoslovakia, with numerous fine landscapes, winter scenes of skiing activities, farming, dramatic skies, etc. Very good copy with slight tanning at edges, four tiny spots of soiling at side edge of back cover and mild bump at the lower left of front cover. In clear glassine.

Orbis Pictus aneb Svet v Objectivu. Josef Brukner and Jaroslav Mrnka, Mlada Fronta, 1964. First edition. Squarish octavo. Black illustrated on white cloth. An anthology of photojournalism broadly interpreted, with 332 images printed in varied layouts and sizes. Includes an international selection of work, including images by Alvin Langdon Coburn, Paul Strand, Ansel Adams, Louis Stettner, W. Eugene Smith, Jan Lukas, Vaclav Chochola, Vaclav Jiru, Bill Brandt, Margaret Bourke-White, the staffs of LIFE, Paris Match, TASS, and numerous others. A very good lightly shaken copy, with crease lines in the cloth covers (occurred during the binding process). Front panel of duskjacket laid in. In clear glassine.
