William Klein: Photographs. Profile by John Heilpern. Aperture, Millerton, NY, 1981. 191 pp. Folio. Hardbound. Graphically illustrated boards and dust jacket. Numerous black-and-white reproductions.
Klein's work--gritty, hard-nosed street photographs that predate Robert Frank's The Americans, had long deserved a larger audience. With this 1981 publication, such appreciation became possible. His early books on New York, Paris, and Rome have long been collector's items. Included in this book, designed by the artist, are excerpts from those earlier books as well as more recent work.
Fine in Near Fine dust jacket; upper edges of dust jacket are curled and somewhat worn with two small tears along upper edge.
