Four Portrait Busts by Francesco Laurana. Photographs by Clarence Kennedy. Text by Ruth Wedgwood Kennedy. The Gehenna Press, Northampton, Massachusetts, 1962. One of 450 (from a total edition of 500) numbered copies. Large octavo. Parchment-backed grey-blue boards; issued without dustjacket. [23 pp.] This is copy No. 181.

An exquisite press book, printed in letterpress on handmade Italian paper, and with twelve photographic plates by Clarence Kennedy printed by The Meriden Gravure Company on handmade English Tovil paper. The close-up studies of the sculptural heads demonstrate consummate skill and sensitivity. Kennedy taught art history at Smith College, and published at least six portfolios of photographs of sculpture in small editions.

A very fine copy.
