O Rio de Janeiro. Bruce Weber. With Drawings by Richard Giglio. A Borzio Book/Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1986. First edition. Folio. Thick photo-illustrated wrappers.
Weber's second and most inventive book; its varied oversized layout dazzles with images of sculpted fashionable young people and the sensual Rio de Janeiro scene. The subject allowed Weber to draw on his experiences in the advertising world and with erotic portraiture. The book has a visual narrative sensibility, and much credit should go to the team of designers --- Sam Shahid, Rise Daniels, and Donald Sterzin. Includes a number of fold-out plates. List of the one hundred thirty plates at the rear. Included in Roth, The Book of 101 Books: Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century.
A Very Fine copy marred only by the slightest traces of edge wear.
