A classic book of social documentary, shot with a view camera in the late 1960s East Harlem, NYC. Bruce Davidson was able to photograph the lives inside these tenement buildings with full trust, producing an intimacy in the work unmatched before that time and matched by few since. The duotone reproductions on semi-gloss, heavy paper stock are beautifully rendered dark and rich, making this book far different in feel from the recent reprint. Included in both The Book of 101 Books and The Open Book
Near Fine; moderately shelf worn with with scattered foxing; slight spine crease aNd edge wear. |
