Viet Nam in Flames. Photographs by Nguyen Manh Dan & Nguyen Ngoc Hanh. Essay, "A Glimpse of History" by Pham van Son. General Staff of the Armed Forces of Vietnam. Kwok Hing Printing Press, Hong Kong, n.d. (1969). 222 pp. Tall quarto. First English language edition. Clothbound in photo-illustrated dust jacket. Black-and-white reproductions.
An anti-Communist propaganda effort published at a juncture when things were looking rather grim for the South Vietnamese forces. The commentary by Pham van Son is, nonetheless, syrupy, optimistic and totally biased. The photos are reminiscent of David Douglas Duncan's "War Without Heroes," and the like: grim shots of wartime, mostly of the South Vietnamese Army. Printed in Hong Kong, apparently with assistance of the South Vietnamese Army.
Very Good in Near Fine+ dust jacket; some wear to boards with some puckering to cloth; professionally repaired tears to front joint; jacket with light edge wear and a couple of tiny edge tears. |
