Pleasures and Terrors. Photographs by Aaron Siskind. Text by Carl Chiarenza. Foreword by James L. Enyeart. New York Graphic Society/Little, Brown, and Co., Boston in association with Center for Creative Photography, 1982. 283 pp. First edition. Quarto. Photo-illustrated dust jacket. 74 duotone and 198 halftone reproductions. INSCRIBED on preliminary page and dated 2/23/85, 'Greetings/Buzz/Aaron Siskind'.
[NOTE: Most signed copies of this book have a tipped in presentation page--from Center for Creative Photography--where the signature appears, rather than being 'flat-signed' and dated in the book itself].

This beautiful retrospective monograph and biography does justice to Siskind's career as a photographer of the abstract, which paralleled the development of the abstract expressionists, as well as his earlier imagery of Harlem, his levitation series, the Bucks County essay, and many lesser-known photographs. Chiarenza wrote a beautiful and highly informative account of the life of this great photographer and teacher.

Fine-; light wear to board extremities; Fine- jacket with light age tanning; residue of price sticker, inside front jacket flap; trace of foxing upper page edges
