THIS LOT CONSISTS OF TWO BOOKS: Picasso. Le Point (1952)[shown]. INSCRIBED BY ROBERT DOISNEAU TO THE LATE PIONEERING PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY OWNER LEE WITKIN; and A Day With Picasso by Billy Kluver, with Twenty-four Photographs by Jean Cocteau (1999).

Picasso Issue of Le Point. Revue Artistique et Litteraire. Souillac, Mulhouse, France, Octobre 1952. With photographs by Robert Doisneau taken of Picasso in Vallauris, France, for this publication, and other illustrations courtesy of Galerie Louise Leiris and D. H. Kahnweiler. Small quarto. Only edition. Card covers with printed dustjacket. 56 pp. INSCRIBED BY DOISNEAU ON CONTENTS PAGE: "Pour Lee Witkin / des images, encore des images/ et un bon brin d'amitie. Robert Doisneau." A lovely issue of the French periodical; printed in rich gravure. Doisneau photographed Picasso in the pottery village he made famous in the hills above Nice, capturing the animated artist with his pottery and with Francoise Gilot. The very good dustjacket has a small piece chipped off at the top of the hinges and spine where the jacket overlaps the card cover, some minor scattered edge rubbing, and some wear at the very bottom of spine; interior fine. Uncommon issue, with the small book label reading "Personal Estate of Lee D. Witkin" at bottom corner of title-page.

A Day with Picasso. Twenty-four Photographs by Jean Cocteau. Billy Kluver. The MIT Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts & London, England, 1999. First edition in English (previously published in Germany and France). A delightful insider's look at a day in the life of Picasso told in conjunction with photographs. Historical background and other photographs and illustrations about the art scene in Montmartre in Picasso's time. Fine copy.
