Nothing Personal. Photographs by Richard Avedon. Text by James Baldwin. Designed by Marvin Israel. Atheneum Publishers, New York, 1964. Unpaged. Folio. White glazed boards with silver title silver inset. Matching slipcase. Numerous black-and-white illustrations.

Avedon and Baldwin were high school friends. Writing in The Photobook: A History, Vol. I, Martin Parr and Gerry Badger describe this book as a "surprisingly bitter, existential work, as jaundiced in its view of the 1950s United States as Robert Frank's ever was....[Avedon's] best book, his demonic version of The Americans.

Near Fine; a bit of abrasion and splitting to backstrip; with a one inch tear near foot; joint remains tight; personal library sticker on front flyleaf; clean, bright boards; some scratching to silver title on rear board; Very Good slipcase with cellophane tape repairs to extremities, upper edge split, but intact; some soiling and scratching to silver titles.
