1,2,3,4,5. Robert Doisneau. Verses by Arthur Gregor. J.B. Lippincott Company, Philadelphia and New York, n.d. (1950's). Designed by Albert Plecy. First American edition. Quarto. Illustrated cloth in photo-illustrated dustjacket. Unpaged.
Doisneau's photographic children's book, with gravure endpaper images and twelve full-page gravure plates. Each plate is an image depicting a corresponding number of objects; for example, two kittens in shoes, five large snails lined up in a shallow ditch, seven acrobats forming a human pyramid, nine round hats on people below the Eiffel Tower, twelve eggs laid out in the grass. Both the French and the American edition are scarce.
A fine copy; some surface scratches to the front panel and just a minimal bit of edgewear to the dustjacket.
