O. Winston Link spent five years in the 1950s taking pictures of the Norfolk and Western Railway--the last American railroad to convert from steam to diesel. Published in conjunction with a 1983 traveling American Museum exhibition, this catalogue documents his striking photographs of the trains, their crews, and the towns along the lines accompanied by Link's own captions detailing the railroad's activities as well as the life of the photographer who documented them.
