Scarce limted edition of Bernhard's classic work!
Ruth Bernhard is best known for her perfectly composed, sensual female nudes and this is her defining collection. In her introuction she writes: "In photographing nudes, it is my aim to transform the complexities of the figure into harmonies of simplified form....I have approached my work with the nude much as I create a still life -- with patience and reverence. My quest through magic of light and shadowm is to isolate, simplify and to give emphasis to form with the greatest clarity." Bernhard's debt to Edward Weston is obvious, and it is fitting that she dedicated this book to his memory. Stunningly printed by Gardner/Fulmer in their laser Fultone process.
Fine/Fine- case; a bit of wear and scuffing. Lacking the print with which the limited edition was originally issue. |
