Boris Becker: ArchitekturZeit Photographien. Essay by Wulf Herzogenrath. Edition Salzau and Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln, 1993. 10 loose color photos housed in printed card box. 8 pp. pamphlet with essay, signed on rear cover by Becker. Edition of 100 copies. Laid in is photo-illustrated card from the exhibition at Landeskulturzentrum Salzau that this edition accompanied.

First, Boris Becker is NOT the former tennis star (tough to get around in Google!), but rather a photographer who was a student of the Düsseldorf School in the early 1980s. While Becker follows somewhat in 'typological' aesthetic of his mentors, his architectural photography is more concerned with compositional structure and color, with each formal and iconographic element carefully considered. His trick, if you will, is to emphasize and accentuate the both graphic contours and the 'sculpturalism' of the buildings pictured--their slippage between 'objecthood' and abstraction--thus revealing the sublime inherent in the common and everyday.

All contents Fine; some stress to inside edges of box.
