Landscape in Contemporary Europe.
Photographs by numerous contributors.
Cafe/a Cre/gme asbl,
Luxembourg,
1995.
162 pp., numerous color and duotone illustrations, 12x9¾".
Despite the editors' modest denials, this is a great survey of recent Post-modern landscape photography in Europe. Not only is it filled with convincing lesser known works by renowned photographers--Lewis Baltz, Andreas Gursky, Paul Graham, among others--Paysages contains many compelling works by artists virtually unknown outside of their respective countries. This collection will be thoroughly enjoyed by anyone interested in the ironic, questioning landscape.
