Publisher's Description
Stone by Stone examines the practices of hunter-gatherer peoples. Through the imaginative acts of drawing on cave walls and sculpting wood and limestone, the world’s first artists imbued their works with the meaning of generational survival and suggested that through the physical manifestation of the art object, the conceptualized reality depicted therein might come to pass. More than a record of events, then, these works looked ahead to shape a future marked by uncertainty. Similarly, through these photographs Taj Forer seeks to depict the successful practice of bushcraft survival skills not to record the past but rather to reimagine the future.
