Now defunct in most parts of the world, the art of itinerant photography still lives in Guatemala. The photographers travel from town to town photographing people who would otherwise never face the camera, at secular and religious fairs across the country. Parker's photographs beautifully document both the subjects and the photographers. Neal's text provides an informative and engaging background on this quickly dying art. Also included are photographs taken by the itinerants themselves. "A fascinating, well written and truly important contribution to photography."--Beaumont Newhall.
