The work of JeongMee Yoon - the Fifth Daum Award Winner - titled The Pink & Blue Project contains very simple but powerful visual images. The images in all the photogaphs are compositions of children surrounded by toys, school things, clothes, and other belongings. It can easily be seen that all the items are objects of everyday life, worn and used by the children in the photograph. The two themes conveyed through the plain arrangement method and visual perspective is the issue of gender divided by color, and the issue of production and consumption in connection with play. The gender of the children neatly divided into two colors, reveals the dichotomous consciousness of gender in our society in a typical but airy manner. Morover, most of the belonings that widely surround the children are factory products, which show traces of the artitist's contempltion on play and study, and the uclture of ownerhsip in contemporary society. Overall, the works contain depth within lightness, andexpress various characteristics of today's society through a subtle and witty perspective, while maintaining close conection with the fundamental and sensitive issues existing in modern society. - From the Introduction by the Geonhi Art Foundation
