Antonín Kratochvíl lives in New York and is a founding member of the VII photo agency. In his photo- journalistic work, he focuses on human tragedies, social unrest and war.
Chernobyl, exclusion zone, 2009. The old woman is forced out of her home by the authorities. She has been living here all her life, and both her husband and her son are buried on the grounds. The woman is in great distress, as she fears that she might not be reunited with her loved ones in the afterlife if she is sent to Kiev and dies there.
