Photographs by Fred Hüning.
Peperoni Books, 2010. 64 pp., Color illustrations throughout, 6¾x9½".
Fred Hüning’s 'einer' ('one') is a story about a family, incredibly intimate and yet universal, because it concerns every single one of us, deals with life and death, restart and farewell, beauty and decay.
The series is nonlinear and surely cannot be deciphered completely, but maybe that is the exact reason why the intensive pictures get directly under our skin, all the more with the poem which Fred Hüning has written for this purpose:
one went before his time
one didn´t say goodbye
one fell into a big sleep
one was longed for
one never looked after himself
one longed for all the love in the world
one didn´t find his way back
one had no tears
one never wanted to be grown-up
one had enough and gave up
one always wanted much too much
one was covered with roses
one comes around
one is missed
one is expected
