Paradis is a collection of uncanny portraits depicting dogs, wolves, tigers and horses in captivity,
photographed with a keen sensitivity both for the human qualities in the animals’ gesture
and for the indecipherable silence that separates these mammals from the speaking human.
The photographs are prefaced with and essay by Moosje Goosen, who reflects on the estranged kinship between humans and animals and the idea of paradise as the absence of language.
