Richard Gilligan is a young photographer who has been documenting temporary skateboarding locales since 2008. From silent expanses to forgotten places and abandoned corners of the urban landscape, every such place holds potential for new life through the dedication of a select few who are willing to build for recreation’s sake in the cracks of the urban fabric. ‘DIY’ is a spatial transformation movement with skateboarder adherents the world over – simple, wild and free.
