Photographs by Nobuyoshi Araki. Text by Germano Celant.
Edition Mennour, Paris, In French and E, 2000. In France. 96 pp., numerous black-and-white and color illustrations, 8¼x11½".
Araki's entire oeuvre of work consists of an accumulation of thousands upon thousands of photographs, revealing a near obsession with photographing daily life--life that, for Araki, does not exclude sex from the list of possible subject matter. He is famous for the rawness of his work and yet enjoys near superstar status in his home country of Japan. This excellent catalogue, from one of Paris's finest photography galleries, contains over 100 images that cut across the full spectrum of his work.
