Photographs by Laurent Millet. Text by Francois Seigneur
Filigranes Editions, Paris, In English and, 2002. In France. 58 pp., color illustrations throughout, 9½x11".
This book is a curious oddity, like a foreign package filled with treasures from a distant, far-off land. The book has a staggered, step design to its pages, which are made from a single sheet of cardstock that has been scored and folded into a self-covered accordion-fold book. The sheer delight in holding and discovering how the book was assembled is reason enough to acquire La Methode. But Millet provides his audience with far more than clever presentation. He combines sculpture, photography, collage and painting into a fantastic and playful whole, loosening the tethers of his dreams from their night-time shrouds and allowing them to burst forth into the light of day.
