Photographs by Elspeth Diederix & Marnix Goossens. Edited by Colin Huizing. Essays by Dick Tuinder and Frank van der Stok.
Artimo, Amsterdam, 2005. 56 pp., Illustrated throughout, 9½x12¾".
Casting off from a common departure point (a personally colored view of nature), Elspeth Diederix and Marnix Goossens each created ten of the color photographs shown in this oversized book. Diederix bends nature to her will in order to create the surrealistic, magic tableaux she has in mind, whereas Goossens has an exceptionally sharp eye for nature’s remarkable, weird, and wonderful aspects. These twenty beautifully reproduced photographs comment on nature, not in a documentary sense but as narratives-sometimes mythological, mysterious, or dramatic.
