Photographs by Roy Villevoye.
Artimo, Amsterdam, 2005. 52 pp., 96 color illustrations, 6½x9¼".
Roy Villevoye had been traveling to Asmat, a remote swampland in Irian Jaya, Indonesia, for ten years, where he heard a strange story of a propeller in the forest. Here, in a photographic companion book to his film, he unravels the mystery by both hearing the traditional tale from a tribal elder and interviewing the Dutch World War II pilot whose emergency landing put him in a frightening confrontation with the headhunting Asmat warriors.
