Photographs by Gert Jochems. Essay By Bernard DeWulf.
Veenman Publishers, Rotterdam, 2006. 140 pp., 54 color and 51 b&w illustrations, 10¼x8".
Between 2001 and 2005, Belgian photographer
Gert Jochems made seven extended trips to
the outskirts of Russia, especially Siberia. In his
unpolished, expressive photographs, he offers
a highly subjective impression of the barren,
dead-end landscape, where people struggle to
survive under extreme circumstances.
