First Subway line built in Tokyo, the Ginza-Line runs between the chic downtown area of Shibuya, with its néon lights and smart suits, to the traditional suburb of Asakusa.
Inevitably, the line serves a cross-section of Japanese society ; the old and young, the well-heeled broker and the down-and-out sit side by side
Outward appearance might divide and categorise the subjects in our minds, were it not for the fact that they were all captured asleep.
Burnt-out young executives, tired old ladies, or simply hungover youths, the trip on the Ginza subway is for all an opportunity to catch up on lost sleep.
They sit, sometimes lie, unsuspecting, exposed, lost in unknown dreams, and frozen in time.
