Kegelbahnen in der Schweiz.
Photographs by Gut Holz.
Edition Patrick Frey, Zurich, 2008. 160 pp., Numerous color illustrations, 8x10¼".
Having entertained different generations, Kegelsport (a European version of Ten-Pin Bowling) is teetering on the edge of extinction in Switzerland. Editors Fabienne Eggelhöfer and Monica Lutz, along with the help of photographer Rolf Siegenthaler, have embarked on a quest to document all of the Kegel venues, found in restaurants, guesthouses or hotels, before they disappear. Captured within an appropriately fitting brown, vinyl cover are these Swiss Kegelbahns – methodically presented from a central, front-on perspective and devoid of human activity. An appendix provides details and addresses for the diehards who want to know where they can be found.
