Numerous contributing photographers. Essays by Haruni Niwa and David Elliot.
Tankosha, Tokyo, 2009. 140 pp., Numerous color and black & white illustrations, 8x10".
With work selected for the Japanese Pavilion at the 2009 Venice Biennale, this timely
and well produced catalogue was also published to coincide with an exhibition of the
artist’s work at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. Introduced by the
ongoing and elaborate full-colour photographic series ‘My Grandmothers’, the
publication subsequently provides a thorough overview of the photographer’s works
produced between 1994 and 2009. Clearly laid-out, with works vividly reproduced one
to a page on full gloss paper, the catalogue is accompanied by essays by Harumi Niwa
and David Elliot along with comprehensive biographic and exhibition information.
