Le Gout Des Mandarines.
Photographs by Patrick Taberna.
Le Caillou Bleu,
64 pp., color illustrations, 7½x10".
Patrick Taberna’s photographs are like memories; each one speaks to the senses, whether it be the smell of salty sea air, the feel of soft bed linens, the sound of rushing wind over wide open vistas, or the taste of a mandarin orange. He demonstrates a fascination with objects, landscapes, children, and details that are at once minute and vast. Similar to the effects of memory, his human subjects are often depicted as an ambiguous or incidental presence occupying this reality: shadows or silhouettes, obscured by a cloth or mirror, or simply unfocused and ethereal. With vibrant colour and gentle expression, the images within these pages are at once momentary and eternal.
