Photographs by Shoji Ueda.
Seigensha, 2014. 132 pp., color illustrations, 8x8".
A mesmerising series of more than 100 colour images produced in the 1990s by Japanese master photographer Shoji Ueda, this book captures the subtle perfection of his style in the final decade of his career. Ueda observed the world around him closely and in detail, enabling him to render even the simplest subjects in an enduring and tangible manner. With a coolness of vision, he allows us to meditate upon the resonances of his images, from a small child among autumn leaves to the fluff of a sweater in the sunlight.
