Photographs by Leendert Blok and Niels Schumm. Text by Maria Heiden.
Basalt, Amsterdam, English, 1998. In The Netherlands.
19 color and 17 duotone illustrations.
By the publishers of the "Guaranteed Real Dutch Photomagazine", Basalt, Tumbleweed is the unorthodox pairing of Leendert Blok 920s and 1930s floral arrangements with Niles Schema's recent domestic still lifes. Schumm's images of surrealistically hyper-present teacups, plastic utensils, and water glasses bring out the quirkiness in Blok's earlier autochrome images. As with other titles in the Linde series, Tumbleweed is a small, charmingly designed monograph with printed boards and illustrated endpapers.
