Publisher's Description
Once again, Austrian photographer Paul Albert Leitner uncovers the poetry of
everyday life, this time by focusing on signs, billboards and advertisements.
On journeys in Europe – Western and post-Socialist Eastern – in the Hispanic
world, New York’s urban space and the American South, Leitner finds advertising
images seductive, romantic, repugnant, nostalgic and always turbo-capitalist.
With a whiff of ‘sixties-style Pop Art mentality, the individual photo is actually
the poetry, with narratives, personal autobiographical and entire world histories
created as a series of images. His eye reveals the concrete form and color of these
ubiquitous modern messages, opening up their surreal levels to the attentive viewer.
