Niagara River and Falls from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
Photographs by John Pfahl. Essays by Estelle Jussim and Anthony Bannon.
University of New Mexico Press, Albuquerque, 1988. 144 pp., 8 black-and-white halftones, 9 black-and-white and 53 color plates,, 9x11¾".
In this collection of photographs on the region surrounding Niagara Falls, John Pfahl has retraced the steps of artist Amos W. Sangster, who in 1886 published a two-volume series of etchings of the area. Pfahl found the same viewpoints that Sangster used and through his contemporary photographs, makes an interesting comparison between the changes and similarities produced over time.
