The four corners area has always been a magical land, steeped in the lore of tribes and Western Americana, sacred sights and gorgeous light, canyons, red rocks, rivers, and mesas. Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah are the four states that comprise this region, and Bloomfield presents work from across those states, dipping as far south as Sedona in Arizona, and White Sands in southern New Mexico. But the majority of work centers on the sweeping vistas of the four corners area. Her vision of the land invariably emphasizes the light; the dusty, rocky terrain is bathed at times in subtle, at times dramatic light-always rich, always enticing. Included too, are rich photographs of Catholic religious inconography from such places as Truchas and Chimayo, NM as well as images of Native American spirituality as seen in petroglyphs and medicine wheels. Bloomfield currently teaches photography in the Bay Area.
