Muller has photographed the Southern California landscape in all its grimy, soiled reality, seeking neither to distort nor gloss over the filth, whether on the land or in the sky. What she has also accomplished, however, is to interpret the land in a very poetic manner, accepting the city and land for what it is, but ever striving to frame and compose and present it to us as a thing of elegance in threat of being buried amidst the mundane.
