Landscapes Along the Colorado Front Range, 1968-1972.

Photographs by Robert Adams.
PPP Editions, New York, 2003. 43 pp., 40 tritone illustrations, 9x8".
In 1999, Andrew Roth published a nearly-forgotten portfolio of Robert Adams photographs from 1968 entitled Eden (Cat# PK504H $75). Published as a companion volume to Eden, Commercial/Residential continues to trace the early development of Adams' photography. These 40 photographs, 20 in each section, distill the changes taking place all over the American West during the early 70s—a chronicle of steady encroachment upon wilderness. Also of interest is the German anthology Landschaft/Landscape, containing the work of Adams and four European photographers (Joachim Brohm, Laurenz Berges, Bernhard Fuchs, and Simone Nieweg) who were greatly influenced by the New Topographics movement, of which Adams was a principal figure.
