The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, 1997. 506 pp., 1099 duotone and 35 color illustrations, 10x12".
Both a catalogue to the Cleveland Museum of Art's recent exhibition Legacy of Light and a catlogue raisonné, Catalogue is a formidable anthology. With over 1,099 duotone illustrations it is one of the most comprehensive surveys of photography. This latest edition represents a significant increase in the museum's nineteenth century holdings, as well as diversification of its twentieth century masters. Key works are reprodcued as full page images, the rest are generously sized for a catalogue of this type. Evan H. Turner and his associates have included an informative overview of the history of photography as well as short essays on many important artists.
