This is the second book that photo-eye has listed concerning the infamous events on 09.11.01, the first being New York: September 11 As Seen by Magnum Photographers (PY049H $29.95). The former is arranged in sections, somewhat chronologically and entirely by photographer. As such, it is an important volume. This book takes a different approach, however, and moves along the lines of a scrapbook, producing an equally heartfelt and moving tribute to those who died or were affected by that day. It is somewhat incorrect to say "those who were affected" for we all were irrevocably affected. With this in mind, the editors have gathered images, writings and reflections from an extremely varied group of people--Samantha Appleton, Noam Chomsky, Richard Dreyfuss, Liam Neeson, Salman Rushdie, Luc Sante, and Deborah Hardt--and placed them under one cover to great effect.
