The Case Against Milosevic
Photographs by Gary Knight. Text by Anthony Loyd.
de.MO, New York, 2002. 164 pp., 123 duotone illustrations, 16x5½".
Milosevic stands charged with deportation, persecution and murder and Evidence confronts the reader with each charge, stripping away the anesthetic quality of the legal jargon to reveal the naked reality of the charges-to reveal what deportation, persecution and murder meant in Kosovo: indignity, dirt, tears, fear; bodies with bound hands or fingers severed by trophy hunters; blood-spattered walls and toppled minarrettes; dead children, weeping women, slain men; lives ripped and ruined, not as the familiar by-product of war, but as a specific aim of war.
