21st Volume VI - Flesh and Spirit
Edited by John Wood. Numerous contributing photographers.
21st, The Journal of Cont. Photo.,
60 color and black-and-white illustrations, 11x14".
This fine-art photography "journal" first made it's entrance on the scene in 1998, explicitly drawing on Stieglitz's famed Camera Work for inspiration. Each issue is exquisitely produced
in 3 editions of increasing price, and brings together many of the finest living photographers and writers to create an image of contemporary photographic culture. Volume VI is an international survey with work from artists that are Belgian, Chinese, English, French, Greek, Mexican, Spanish, and American. The authors included are novelists, playwrights, poets and historians; a fine group of international writers that lend fresh and refined voices to their concerns about photography. John Wood, ever the resourceful editor and author, presides over the organization of the book. "The book is a celebration of the things of the earth, the things of the heaven, and their elegant intersection in the mind's eye." Photographers included are Jayne Hinds Bidaut, Christopher Bucklow, Toni Catany, Flor Garduno, the recently deceased Don Hong-Oai, Robert Stivers, and Philip Trager, among a host of others.
