Lonely Planet, is an exhibition catalog from the Contemporary Art Gallery at the Art Tower Mito in Japan. The exhibit features an array of international art stars such as Rineke Dijkstra, Bill Viola, Tony Oursler and the Chapman brothers along side a selection of younger artist from Japan, such as Chiho Aoshima and Kou Inose. The uniting factor is that the work appeals to the viewer in two levels. First, the audience does not require any knowledge of art history to appreciate the work. Secondly, the work reveals aspects of society that are commonly considered taboo or are ignored.
