The premise of this book arises from the vicissitudes of modern air travel—a battery of hassles we're all familiar with. The nadir of airport troubles, always accompanied by that sinking feeling in your stomach, comes when the security-personnel ask, from behind the x-ray machine, “Excuse me, is this your bag?” They then proceed to rummage through said bag looking for the object that caught their attention. The novelty of this book resides in its typological presentation of those prohibited items. Checked Baggage is one big list, albeit in pictures, of prohibited items that were pulled from hand luggage in 1 airport over the course of 7 days. 8,070 flights, 654,651 passengers, 30,211 tons of cargo yielded 3,264 prohibited items. Fascinating! - Darius Himes
