'With Muay Thai, Olivier Pin-Fat immediately perceives its incredible violence and uses every means at his disposal to translate it into visual images. He gets as close as he can to the fighters, focusing directly on them, using a flash to underline the impact of the blows, finding the right distance from the tangle of tormented bodies, some beaten till they fall lifeless to the ground. He is driven not by a stylistic exercise, but rather by rigour and spontaneity, ending in a painful, sometimes even unbearable vision of a sport often famed only for its gracefulness.'
