Settlement.
Photographs by Nick Waplington.
MACK, 2014. 192 pp., 146 illustrations, 11¾x10½".

Publisher's Description
Nick Waplington lived in Jerusalem for four years, where he depicted the physical and political geography of Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

Settlement looks at the topography of Jewish identity in the West Bank, which is in conflict not only with the Palestinian majority but also with mainstream Israeli society: the settle- ments are isolated, often radical communities that occupy territory deemed illegal by the international community. The work investigates the problematic and contradictory nature of settler identity in the region.
