Say My Last Name Softly is the first collaborative effort between Christian Michael Filardo and Marie Claire Bryant.
Filardo handles the flash aggressively placing extreme emphasis on each subject. In this work, he forms an inventory of the esoteric.
Each poetic phrase in Bryant’s body of phrases is both isolated and associative, meaning that the reader will naturally understand the book as one poetic entity or as many. Nothing delineates beginnings and endings. The poem’s hyper-observant saga feels deliberately unrealized, just as personal narratives often go unrealized as we cycle through life.
Side-by-side Filardo’s photographs and Bryant’s words inform each other’s narratives, construct another narrative, and draw parallels between the acts of sequencing images and sequencing language.
Say My Last Name Softly is the first book to be published by Holy Page Records.
